Mr. Nishimoto is the Guitar Teacher for all guitar classes and the Director for all guitar ensembles at Coronado High School. The 2009-2010 school year will be his seventh year instructing at CHS. Previously, Mr. Nishimoto taught at several local music studios and small academies. He has written several materials for his classroom including beginning and intermediate guitar method books, two graded sets of studies, and countless arrangements. Mr Nishimoto belongs to several national professional organizations including The Music Educator's National Conference (MENC), The Guitar Foundation of America (GFA), and The Guild of American Luthiers (GAL). He is also a member or supporter of many local organizations such as The Guitar Society of Las Vegas, The Allegro Guitar Society of Las Vegas, The Nevada Music Educators Association, and the Las Vegas Chamber Music Society. Mr. Nishimoto was born and raised in the United States, but spent his formative years in Tokyo, Japan. He attended middle school in Japan which provided him with a unique educational experience and today is a large influence on his philosophy of instruction. He is an alumni of Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas. He received a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration on Music Education & Classical Guitar from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. Mr. Nishimoto was recently recognized for his educational service with a Senatorial Letter of Distinction. He is also the Head Wrestling Coach and founder and volunteer advisor to the CHS Unicycle Club. Currently, Mr. Nishimoto resides in Las Vegas with his wife Sarah and in his spare time enjoys his hobbies: music, reading, and collecting unique furnishings, curios, and decor. |
