Freshmen Audition Results added by Mrs. McCracken

What an amazing freshmen class we have! We had nearly 30 students audition for marching band in May, and ALL of the students who auditioned are going to be in the Cougar Pride Marching Band. Please go to the home page, click on charms music, and then navigate through the calendar for camp dates. Your first day is Thursday, August 7, from 9am-2pm. You will NOT need your instruments on that day.
If you are a freshmen who plans on being in marching band, and you did not audition on any of the 4 dates in May or make arrangements for Mrs. McC. or Mr. Franke to hear you play, you MUST audition. That information was provided by your middle school band directors. Mrs. McC. and Mr. Franke will be back in the band office on August 1, and are available to listen to auditions on August 4, 5, or 6 by appointment only.

Go to the Charms Music link, which is the second link from the left across the top of this site's home page (next to Announcements). Click on the public calendar link, and you navigate through the band camp activities.
To find out times, click on the date, and the description will give times.

8th Grade Marching Band Auditions for 2008-09 added by Mrs. McCracken

Click on the CharmsMusic Link, then click on forms, and then select the instrument on which you will be auditioning. Your audition will consist of the CHS Fight Song, two major scales and one chromatic, and sight reading. Auditions will be taking place on May 28th and 29th at 3pm in the Coronado Band room.
Freshmen students who audition for and are accepted into the marching will also enroll in Advanced Band (Symphonic Band) and will earn a PE II waiver. Freshmen students who are not accepted into marching band will enroll in Intermediate Band (Concert Band) and not receive a PE II waiver. Freshmen students who are not accepted into marching band or choose to not audition for marching band will not have the opportunity to move up into a higher concert ensemble. They will remain in Concert Band for the entire school year.

2008-2009 Band Camp Information and Dates, rev. 1/7/08 added by Mrs. McCracken

Marching Band is a requirement for all students in grades 10-12 enrolled in another band class. Incoming 9th graders will audition for placement within the band program, and will do so in the spring prior to their freshmen year. Freshmen students who audition for and are accepted into the marching band will also enroll in advanced band (symphonic band) and will earn a PE II waiver. Freshmen students who are not accepted into marching band will enroll in intermediate band (concert band) and not receive a PE II waiver. This group performs at out-of-school performances, halftime shows, competitions, and parades. This class meets during the earliest period of the school day during the first nine weeks.
Don't forget, attendance at band camp is mandatory! We will work with CHS conflicts, such as fall sports, so that you can do as many activities as possible!
Freshmen who have auditioned and have been accepted into marching band, as well as any student in grades 10-12 who are new to Coronado High School must attend 'New Marcher Camp' on August 7-8, 2008
Woodwind and brass students are required to participate in rehearsals and band camp from August 11-15 and 18-22, 2008.
Percussion and colorguard students are required to participate in rehearsals and band camp from August 4-8, 11-15, and 18-22, 2008.
All marching band students are required to participate in all performances and rehearsals.

Cell Phone Recycling - FUNDRAISER added by CHS Band Directors

Do you have an old cell phone you don't know what to do with? The band is now recycling cell phones. Drop-off any cell phones in the boxes located in the bandroom.

Inkjet Cartridges - FUNDRAISER added by CHS Band Directors
|
|
Students can collect and bring in old inkjet cartridges to be recycled. Most cartridges are worth $1-$4. Send these in a plastic bag with the student's name and 100% of the money will go into their personal account. This will be an ongoing fundraiser until otherwise noted.
